Angels on Four Paws

A few thousand years ago God called together his most learned and nurturing angels and gave them a very special project.

He said unto them “There are those on Earth that doubt my love for them and are having difficulty adhering to my commandments and keeping their faith in me, so I am sending you to Earth in the form of four legged creatures that will be called dogs. I am calling you dogs so that my intentions will be obvious, your name will be mine in reverse.

You will be endowed with powers that no human possesses.

You will be able to reach the unreachable and comfort those who feel that their days of comfort have passed.

When a human is feeling down and doubting his faith in me you must lick their tears away and show them unconditional love.

You will have the power to wisk away their troubles with a wag of your tail.

When a human is happy you must do something jovial to perpetuate their happiness.

Most important of all when a human doubts their faith in me you must look to them for your well being, strength, and safety as they should look to me for theirs.

I know that through your loving eyes and actions humans will learn by your example that the way to happiness is through kindness at all times even when the circumstances warrant anger; compassion, understanding and faithfulness is the example you will give them.

You will be called back to heaven long before they are so that they might feel the heartbreak that I feel whenever one of them is lost to selfishness and greed.

For those that keep you in their hearts for all of the remaining days of their lives you will be waiting to welcome them into the kingdom of Heaven.

You will be one of my greatest gifts to humanity and that is why only the best of angels have been chosen.

Go forth my best and brightest and teach my children what they already know but sometimes need to be reminded of, my undying love for them so that more and more of them will pass through the gates of my home with their souls not only intact but polished to a brilliant shine that will line every cloud that an enlightened human eye sees”.

And so it was that dogs were given to man as one of His most precious gifts to be cherished by all that understood the message that they convey.
